Nokia 6101

Nokia 6101

The Nokia 6101 was launched in April of 2005. The Nokia 6101 is a mid-range flip phone. As frequently happens with Nokia cellphones, the clamshell design is elegant to look at, the build quality is excellent but the phone feels somewhat thick and heavy at 97 grams. The black and silver color scheme helps the phone look sleeker than it really is.

The functionality of this phone is quite good. The keypad features large buttons with a logical layout. The screen is a brightly lit STN screen with 65,536 colors and 96 x 65 pixels. The cell phone also features two color displays, an integrated VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) with self-portrait capability (you can see the camera focus on the outside window if you have good vision), a video recorder with sound, voice recorder, FM radio, speed dialing, hands free speaker, MP3 ringtones, messaging, email, caller ID, etc. etc. etc.

The upside with the Nokia 6101 are that it looks very attractive, has a lot of well thought out features and is very easy to use. One of the nice features on this phone is that is communicates well with your PC and the data transfer is fast. The voice dialing also works reasonably well.
The downside with the Nokia 6101 include an external antenna, kind of “tinny” sound with the MP3 player, small memory capacity and no Bluetooth capability. The lack of memory (at 4.4 Mbytes) is the biggest issue with owners. If one were to download one ringtone, one game, and then add a regular size contact list, there would only be room left over for 3 to 5 pictures. Once you get the phone loaded up with an average number of extras, you have to delete current ones to add new.
